As make up artists like Khandiz Joni and experts like Imelda Burke (of Alchemy stockist Content Beauty) can tell you, vegan beauty has completely evolved in the past few years. Where it was once experimental, and not always effective, vegan and organic beauty brands are fast becoming some of the best in the industry. Unlike big beauty brands, vegan and organic brands tend to focus on skin health, making them better for you in the long-run. All products listed here are 100% vegan, so you can look great without compromising your ethics.

  1. Tata Harper Clarifying Moisturiser, £85

We think that, as in haircare, hydration is crucial for looking good. Makeup artists say that moisturising one of the most important steps in any beauty routine – along with cleansing and toning. What better, then, to have a moisturiser that hydrates the skin while cleansing and unclogging pores?! Tata Harper’s moisturiser does just that: perfect for blemish-prone and oily skin (but amazing for everyone), it soothes the skin’s appearance and gives a smooth matte finish.

  1. Alima Pure Pressed Foundation with Rosehip Antioxidant Complex, £32

Foundation can sometimes feel heavy, and like it’s clogging your pores. This incredible foundation feels lightweight, and is great for your skin! It has an amazing blend of ingredients, like Rosehip Oil (for skin restoration), Aloe Leaf Extract (soothing and anti-inflammatory) and Evening Primrose Oil (as a moisturiser and toner). Rather than feeling cake-y this foundation gives a smooth, matte coverage, and comes with a sponge applicator.

  1. Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra-Natural Mascara, £25

Instead of the petroleum combustion carbon black used by most big beauty brands, this mascara and uses plant-based pigments. So it’s not only great for eco-warriors, but also means that the mascara can be built up in layers and still look smooth. The mascara’s formula is especially designed to avoid smudging, and the spiral wand (a favourite of creative director, Gwyneth Paltrow ) allows for perfect eyelash coverage and helps avoid clumpy eyelashes.

  1. Ere Perez Beautiful Beetroot Lip Stain and Cheek Tint, £18.50

We love this tint! It’s smudge-proof, long lasting and fades evenly, so you won’t ruin it by eating or drinking- perfect for a night out! It’s portable and easy to use – just roll on and blend with your fingers. You can control the intensity of the colour: add a little for a subtle, healthy look, and layer for a more vibrant colour. RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream, £15

We love coconut, and use it in all of our hair oils. Famous for its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, coconut oil works as both a cleanser and a moisturiser, and is suitable for all skin types – even sensitive and acne-prone skin. RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream uses pure, unrefined coconut oil (and nothing else), so none of the natural enzymes and nutrients have been lost during manufacturing.
