Winter is a harsh season for your skin. The humidity drops, which can make your skin drier, itchier and flakier – and nobody’s got time for that! We have put together our top tips for winter skincare to keep you glowing all through the season…
#1 Shower Power:
Turn down the heat! In winter you should turn down the temperature on your showers and baths. Water that is too hot will dehydrate your skin and hair as it strips away your skins natural oils – it can even lead to itchy rashes. Keep your hair and skin hydrated by showering in warm water, helping hair stay strong and shiny.
Make sure you moisturise as soon as you dry off after a shower or bath. Avoid harsh products and look out for anything that contains strong fragrance, alcohol, retinoids or alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) – all of these are a no-no. Try swapping lotions for ointments: natural oils like jojoba and olive oils or shea butter will help to soothe and protect your skin.
#3 A Breath of Fresh Air:
If you wake up with dry skin then a humidifier could be the answer you need. When the heating is on at home a lot of the moisture in the environment is sucked out. A humidifier will help to replace it and stop your skin from dehydrating.
